CORY D. ABBAS CORY D. ABBAS was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 3, 1973. He attended Drake University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude, in 1994. After his undergraduate studies and before attending law school, Cory was instrumental in the foundation of the small business Intersphere Lasergames, and managed the introduction of the cable modem product for the Des Moines metro area for Mediacom (f/k/a AT&T Broadband). Cory received his Juris Doctorate, with high honors, from Drake Law School in 2004. While at Drake Law School, Cory was an Opperman Scholar and a member of the Moot Court Board, the ABA Negotiations Team and the Blackstone Inns of Court. He also was invited to join the Order of the Coif. He joined the Patterson Firm as a law clerk in 2002, and as a lawyer in 2004.

Cory is a member of the Polk County, Iowa State and American Bar Associations. He continues to be active in the Blackstone Inns of Court. Cory has a general practice including but not limited to workers compensation and civil litigation and advising small businesses.

Cory has been active in civic and charitable organizations starting with being one of the inaugural members of the Polk County Peer Review Court and later acting as a mentor for the youth involved in the Polk County Peer Review Court. He has also been involved as a mentor and judge for junior high mock trial, Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation, MADD, and the Up With People tour. He has served as the President of the Executive Board for Children's Garden Coop Daycare Center, and continues to serve as its General Counsel.
